This combined-rigger and crane operators training is designed to help candidates achieve the necessary competence to safely operate a crane and also, having the basic understanding about rigging operations. The training is made simply and easy to understand with the use of simulators and/or practical sections.

Course duration: This is dependent on the level of hands-on experience in crane operation.

Course Objective

Define the titles “Crane Operator” and “Rigger” in line with each individual responsibilities

  • Health and safety at Work Regulations
  • Lifting gears regulations
  • Lifting gears pre-use inspections
  • To perform a daily preoperational inspection and documentation
  • Operate the crane safely in accordance with manufacturers handbook and accepted codes of practice
  • Demonstrate and understanding of the controls of the particular model used during the training
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the proper used of rigging tackles
  • Estimate the weight of the load
  • Recognize correct hand signals
  • To perform a daily pre-operational inspection and documentation
  • Interpret load rating charts
  • Determine the load weights
  • Use basic rigging skills
  • Use a load angle indicator
  • Demonstrate knowledge of dynamic and static lift operations
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety for wind limitations
  • Know the characteristics, operational mode, and functional mode/components of the type of crane in use

Candidates are assessed both theoretically and practically in the course of the training against the perquisite course objective.
